Maruti Versa Review: Maruti Versa was launched in India in 2001. Maruti already had entry level micro van Omni which was quite successful, Versa was planned to be premium microvan to be used as premium passenger van. Maruti Versa is clone of now discontinued Suzuki Carry. However; it took some time for consumer to appreciate this van mainly due to high price difference between Omni and Versa. A major price reduction and repositioning has helped shore up otherwise luck luster sales of Versa.

Maruti Versa is sold in three variant – 5 seater std, 8 seater DX, 8 seater DX2. The additional features as compared to 5 seater std model in DX and DX2 are electronic tachometer, body color bumpers, heater, electronic power steering, central locking, power windows, collapsible steering column, folding middle, fabric seat upholstery body graphics and foldable back seats. The main difference in DX and DX2 is the twin air conditioner for front and rear seat.

Maruti Versa is powered by 16 valve, 4 cylinder in-line, 1298 cc multipoint fuel injection all aluminum engine managed by 16 bit computer. It delivers 82 bhp (61 Kw) power @ 6000 rpm and 102 Nm ( 10.4 Kgm) maximum torque @ 3000 rpm. With a kerb weight of 985 Kgs it is quite peppy and can clock 0-60 Kmph in 13.5 seconds. Versa has 5 speed manual transmission. It has a 4.5 meter of turning radius. It has radial tyres and front brakes booster assisted ventilated disc and rear brakes booster assisted drum.

This not so beautiful van is packed with performance and is good for large family or if you are an outdoor person. It combines a premium van with good fuel efficiency and value for money. Versa is comfortable head space is comfortable vehicle for taller persons. The leg space is generous, however, three adults may find it little squeeze at back, it does not have space of Sumo or Qualis. The beauty of Versa is that it can switch from business (carrying 8 persons) to pleasure and people and may be if you need as goods carrier. The air conditioning in DX2 is very effective as rear vents are placed directly over the windows and efficient in tackling heat that comes through window.
