Maruti Swift Dzire Review

November 20, 2008 - Category: Indian Cars, Maruti Suzuki | 4 Comments

Maruti Desire is the latest car launched by Maruti Suzuki India in March 2008. The 3 box version of Swift was launched to replace Maruti Esteem. Maruti Esteem was upgraded model of Maruti 1000 launched in 1990, which was India’s first sedan. Maruti Esteem with 1300 cc petrol engine was launched in 1994 and has served a backbone to Maruti in Sedan market. It has been introduced in Indian market in both petrol and diesel version to take up Tata’s Indigo, Mahindra’s Logan. Maruti Dzire has seen a very healthy order book and the company is finding it hard to meet customer demand.

Swift Dzire has been designed by Maruti in India and is a 3 box version of its successful Swift. It has same engine, power train, wheel base and weighs 30-35 kgs more than swift. The entry level is available in 6 models, 3 each in diesel and petrol variant. The petrol engine same as Swift is a 4 cylinder 1298 cc multipoint fuel injection engine with 16 valves and 32 bit computer. The engine develops 87 bhp @ 6000 rpm with maximum torque of 113 Nm @4500rpm.

The diesel engine manufactured in Manesar with Fiat collaboration is a Common rail direct injection DDIS multi jet engine with 4 cylinder 1248 cc developing a power of 75 bhp @4000 rpm and maximum torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 rpm. This is a fuel efficient which is also in great demand in Swift Diesel. The 5 speed manual transmission is used in all the Lxi, Vxi, Zxi and diesel LDi, VDi and ZDI. This means all the 6 models have electronic power steering to add to easy maneuvering. The VXi and VDi models have additional features such as power windows, central locking, stereo system, tachometer, driver seat belt warning.

The ZDi and ZVi have the additional features as steering mounted stereo controls, automatic weather control , adjustable tilting steering ,alloy wheels, Dual front airbags, Antilock Braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution and seat belt pre tensioned with force The interiors are nice Lxi, VDi has sliver black fabric trim, VDi and VXi have bluish grey whilst the ZXi and ZDi are beige fabric trims. Maruti Swift Dzire has boot space of over 400 litres.

The boot is added to swift as afterthought, the panel gaps are not smooth. The design of boots seems to be inspired by much famous “bangled” look in BMW 7 series. The side look is not so pleasing to eyes. The 1.3 liter Diesel appears to be underpowered for highway driving. The positive point is excellent city driving and 18-20 km per liter consumption in diesel version. Both petrol and diesel have been received well but Maruti need to speed up the production to meet demand.

This can be a great buy for those who want a mean between luxury and price.

If i m right tuning can be done only in cars with carburetor,Now there is no carburetor for MPFI vehicle , For mileage u have to clean IAC valve , spark plug , check clutch performance. In 10000km they will replace only Engine oil and Oil filter, general check up and ur car problems said to the Service advisor, Only in 20000km they will replace engine oil and oil filter, gear oil, spark plug, coolant,
