Maruti SX4 Review: The Maruti Suzuki SX4 is a part of Italian designed subcompact 4 door sedans and 5 door hatchback that Suzuki has developed with Fiat. It is being manufactured in Japan, India, Hungry and Russia. Launched in 2006, this car is being sold in India in 4 door sedan petrol version. With Maruti Suzuki DZire as entry level sedan, SX4 is positioned against Honda City, Hyundai Versa, Ford Fiesta and General Motor Aveo. Maruti SX4 is also replacement of Maruti Belano which was with 1.6 liter engine and was not doing so well in this segment. It is being marketed in Europe both by Fiat and Suzuki. Hatchback version has also got good sales and reviews in North America, where it is being marketed as AWD (All Wheels Driven) with 2.0 liter engine in Canada and USA as SX4 crossover and as SX4 sedan sports.

In India the car is powered by 1586 cc DOHC petrol engine in three variants VXi, ZXi , ZXi (with leather seats option) is powered by 5 speed manual transmission. The engine develops maximum power of 102 bhp@5500 rpm, the maximum torque is 145 Nm@4200 rpm. This engine is more powerful than the other cars in its class.

The electronic power steering gives ease in driving, it has the widest tyres in its class and high ground clearance. Maruti SX4 has a contemporary European design with tall stance, muscular looks, large tyres giving it a really a beautiful look. This coupled with beige interiors, well designed instrument panel and optional leather seat covers give Maruti SX4 a luxurious touch. The additional feature in ZXi model is front dual airbags, Antilock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Braking force Distribution (EBD), automatic weather control and stereo. The boot is specious at 505 liter.

Maruti Suzuki SX4 has been received well by the consumer both due to its looks and performance. In India it is doing well in its class. The SX4 driving position is excellent like a mini-SUV with adjustable steering it adds to driving pleasure giving excellent visibility. The car is spacious inside and with aiding ergonomics, it comfortable for long drive. Maruti SX4 is peppy compared to its competition in 0-100 km.

It gear box is not as smooth as Honda City but in mid range 2500-5000 rpm is a strong punchy car to drive. The success of Maruti SX4 has forced the market leader Honda City to launch a new model, other competitors Hyundai, General Motors and Mitsubishi are also trying to come up with the challenge that Maruti Suzuki SX4 has posed in A3 segment, where so far it was a marginal player.

I have been driving SX4 VXi since January 2009. Its a fantastic and very comfortable car for covering long distances. Its very stable at high speeds (140-150 km/h). I love this car for its performance, looks, capabilities and also ease & cost of maintenance.

I have had a SX4 ZXI for the last three months and have driven 3000+ kms in it. Two long distance drives from Bangalore to Chennai and to Chickmagalur. The car is a dream to drive. She is stable and has good road grip. The mileage before first service was 8.9 kms and after the 3000km mark has gone up to 10kms per liter (AC always on , avg speed 40-50kmph). The long distance mileage after 3K kilometers is 15kmpl with AC always on and a steady 80kmph speed, (4 passengers in cabin and full luggage in the boot). This last mileage figure includes 30% driving in ghat section (where the speed was slower and uphill). This car does not strain me when I go on long drives. The mileage figures quoted above are from full tank of petrol to full tank of petrol. So they are accurate.
      Hope this helps.
      Regards,
      Srikanth.

Maruti Sx4 looks like a downsized Kizahsi to me.. Sx4 is bolder and definitely for real men. Sx4 has commanding driving position, luxurious cabin and enormous boot. Sx4 has refined engine and gives a superb mileage of 14 kmpl

Sx4 is a brilliantly priced cars. With Kizashi like looks, Sx4 is standing tall, has muscles and definitely male when compared to bland Verna, high priced Honda City!!

Maruti Sx4 has got commanding view from driver seat. The engine is powerful and overtaking in highways is very very easy. The steering feedback is sharp and you can enjoy driving it whole day. Sx4 is cheaper and has lot more features. With a mileage of 13 kmpl and maruti’s trustworthy service and cheaper spare parts, Sx4 is the best sedan under 10 lakh rupees!

The sx4 is a real value for money car. Superb pick-up and power is unimaginable as compared to cars in its segment. Great control at high speed and is very sterdy.Ground clearance is good and the car has a clear Sedan look.

Car has good road grip, pick up is good. Definitely more spacious than other cars in same segment. Car styling is good, big boot space. Higher ground clearance avoids any un-noticed bumps on road.its too worthful for our money.Enjoy smooth ride.

The best selling points of SX4 is: Road presence, Climate control, ABS, Airbags, Audio controller in steering wheel, 16 Inch Alloy and slightly better performance. All these goodies sounds very good and exciting. However, when you go inside the cabin, the interior feels very rich.
