Duster was launched in 2012. It easily gained popularity due to its sporty look, features, and its price. Engine
Variants fitted with 1.5 DCI HP engines along with 5- speed manual transmission gearbox offer mileage of 20.45 KMPL. Variants fitted with 1.5 liter DCI THP with 6-speed manual transmission offer mileage of around 19.1 KMPL.
Duster also comes with 1.6 liter petrol engine that offers mileage of 13.24 KMPL. This one also comes with 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.
If you are looking for automatic transmission, you can choose Duster’s latest AWD variants. These new models also offer iDrive technology.
Brakes and Suspension
Disk brake in the front and drum brake in the rear are good enough to balance this SUV while on hills. The SUV’s ground clearance is 205mm, and turning radios is 5.2m.
MacPherson Strut system manages suspension for front wheels, while Torsion beam manages suspension for rear wheels. Anti-roll bar and coil springs assure soft ride even when the SUV travels on roads full of potholes.
Style and Technology
Duster’s anti-lock braking system with EBD, anti-skid resistance, cruise control, electrically adjustable mirrors, and dual front airbags are some of the features. This SUV also offers other features like hill start assist, electronic stability program, reverse parking sensors, tilt steering, and monocoque body that offers safer journey.
Driver’s seat can be adjusted in eight ways to assure comfortable driving experience even while driving through hilly areas. Rear AC ensures that rear seat passengers will enjoy their journey even during hottest days of the year.
Duster’s “Eco” drive mode is worth noticing, as it can help in reducing fuel consumption by 10 per cent according to Renault.
Exterior
There is no doubt that this SUV has sporty, bold, and muscular look. Even those who do not have their driving license, wish to drive this monster when they see it for the first time. Chrome front grille, double-barrel headlamps, 5-spoke wheels, and sporty looking roof rails help this SUV to really attract eye-balls while on the road.
Interior
Beige colored interiors combined with dual tone leather seats, hi-tech console, and center arm rest with cup holder can keep onlookers busy for several minutes.
When you look inside this SUV’s cabin, its 18 inch touch screen console on dashboard will impress you for sure. This console offers entertainment, maps, navigation system, and also allows you to make phone calls once it gets connected to your phone via Bluetooth. The on-board trip computer assists you with information like fuel consumption, average speed, distance traveled, etc.
The entertainment system has built-in FM radio. You can also connect it with your USB, iPod, or smart phone. The entertainment system can also be controlled with switches mounted on SUV’s steering.
Adventure Edition

The interior consists of light green fabrics on seats, sporty floor mats, and dual tone dash board with black and grey theme. Wheel arch claddings, smoky headlamps, side body moldings’, and rugged styling are enough to put this variant one step ahead of others.
Renault Duster is available in RXE, RXE Adventure, RXL, RXL Plus, RXL Option, RXZ, RXZ Plus, RXZ Option, RXL Adventure, and the recently launched RXL AWD, RXZ AWD variants.
RXZ variant comes with price tag of around Rs 12.99 lakhs plus taxes, while RXL variant is available for around Rs 11.98 lakhs, plus taxes.
