    Suzuki SlingShot Plus Review

    India is the second largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. Around 14.36 million two wheelers were sold during 2013. At-least ten new bikes are launched every year. Some of them make it on road, while some of them remain inside bike makers’ warehouses for years. Let’s take a look at one of the top selling bikes that managed to attract considerable number of bikers. Here are some interesting facts about Suzuki SlingShot Plus.

    Electric starter and front disk brake combined with gear position indicator, and preload adjustable rear suspension, take this bike one step ahead of its competitors. You can opt for SCD variant or SEU variant.

    Mechanical specifications

    Suzuki SlingShot Plus offers highly comfortable ride with its air-cooled 124cc engine. The bike consists of five speed manual gearbox along with wet multiplate clutch.

    This motorcycle is perhaps the best 125cc bike that offers great performance along with comfort and great style. It consumes fuel like 100 cc bikes, but performs like 150cc bikes.

    Its 12 liter fuel tank might remind you of Suzuki’s Zeus. Some users also compare it with certain bikes from GSX-R series. Bike’s average fuel efficiency is 60 to 66 kilometers per liter. Mileage may change according to road conditions.

    The engine is worth relying upon; it produces 8.5bhp and 10Nm of torque. This bike was first launched as SlingShot 125cc in 2011, and later, as SlingShot Plus in 2012.

    Car and bike experts suggest that this bike’s light weight alloy combined with convenient gear position indicator, adjustable rear suspension and longer swingarm make it worth riding in city’s traffic conditions, as well as national highways. Its front fender design, stylishly designed visor, and of sharp edgy head lamps are good enough to attract women.

    Bike’s main competitors

    The bike is in direct competition with other popular 125cc bikes like Bajaj Discover 125T, Yamaha SS125, Honda CB Shine, TVS Phoenix, and Hero Glamour. However, pricewise, customers should be ready to shell out few thousands more for SlingShot compared to its competitors.

    SlingShot Plus SEU is priced in between 56,000 and 59,000, depending on state and local taxes. While the SlingShot Plus SCD variant is priced between 58,000 and 62,000 depending on taxes.

    You can choose from colors like pearl mirage white, candy antares red, glass sparkle black-blue graphic or glass sparkle black-red graphic.Bike’s alloys, exhaust and frame have black theme.

    How is SlingShot Plus different from its earlier model SlingShot 125?
    Bike experts suggest that buyers are very conscious about bike’s looks. So, in-order to face intense competitive market, Suzuki decided to add style elements in it new refreshed machine. The bike maker gave cosmetic upgrade and made certain changes in headlamps to offer that sporty and sharp look. It was renamed as SlingShot Plus, and re-launched in 2012. However, the engine’s power, specifications, and bike’s overall performance remained the same.

    Suzuki Motorcycle India gets ready to increase their market share
    The company has launched several 100cc, 125cc, 150cc and 250cc bikes in India since their end of joint venture with TVS motors in 2001.

    Suzuki Motorcycle India controls one per cent of market share in Indian bike market. Company’s executive vice-president, Atul Gupta recently interacted with media and said the company aims to capture five per cent market share during next two years. The company produces around 30,000 scooters and 5,000 motor cycles every month.

    Atul Gupta also said that the company aims to expand its dealership network by adding 400 new dealerships in 2015. Suzuki also plans to stop offering 250cc Inazuma bike in the country from 2015, and is ready to launch Gixxer 160 next year.
