TVS Scooty Pep+ gives good and quality ride, very simple for city ride, lots of colors to choose from, light weight and good looking. It is lighter then all it competitions hence favorite with Gals.

When it comes to history of gear-less and automatic scooters in India, Scooty will always be the first chapter in the book. Almost all the Scooty models have proved to be best sellers. Let’s take a look at some points to know more about TVS Scooty Pep + model.

    Mechanical aspects
Scooty Pep + consists of 4 stroke single cylinder, 87.8 cc forced air-cooled engine that can move at maximum speed of 74 KMPH.

The engine seems good enough to offer comfortable ride for female riders. Automatic gear box is matted to the engine. Your princes can also travel with pillion passenger, as Pep + comes with soft, long, and contoured seat made from MDI polyurethane foam. But foot-board does not seem spacious enough for tall people.

User reviews suggest that Pep + offers mileage between 60 KMPL and 70KMPL, depending on road and traffic conditions. Tad longer wheelbase and light weight body allow rider to zoom out through tight spaces on city roads.

Its mono-coil spring offers suspension for rear part, while hydraulic telescopic forks offer suspension for front part. Vehicle’s drum brakes seem effective enough compared to its weight. But considerable number if users are not happy about its turning stability. Perhaps, due to small wheel radius units that fail to establish firm grip on the road.

    Perfect for college going girls
Scooty Pep + is considered as most playful and powerful for college girls.

Pep +is fitted with rear-view mirrors that look cute, while sleek headlamp and front fender’s edgy style gives premium feel to this scooter. The vehicle’s odomer, gauge and easy to read speedometer helps girls to keep track about their speed.

Chrome heat shield covers the black colored exhaust. Indicators are integrated with tail lamp. Storage space under the seat is lockable, and so are the front storage compartments. Light inside the vehicle’s under seat storage makes the storage more convenient.

Scooty does not face tough competition from competitors
Pep + scooter’s main competition is with Yamaha Ray. According to car and bike experts, Yamaha Ray can be used for travelling on highways. But Scooty Pep + cannot be used to do so. When it comes to colors, Scooty Pep + is far ahead of its competitors, as TVS offers this girls centric two wheeler in 99 colors.

Perhaps, multiple choice of colors, graphics, and that feminine feeling is attracting more and more women towards Scooty Pep + in-spite of availability of several scooters in this segment. No other scooter is as successful as Scooty Pep + in this segment.

Pricewise, Scooty Pep + costs between Rs 41,000 and 46, 000, depending on taxes. Still, you end up paying few thousands less compared to price for Yamaha Ray.

This strongly feminist scooter is specially designed to be used for travelling in busy city areas. Boys, men prefer to stay away from this beauty due to its style and less powerful engine.

    About Scooty’s background
Scooty was launched in 1994 as unisex scooter. It was country’s first gearless scooter. But the scooter maker found that women were using this scooter more than men. So, TVS launched several new models to target girls and women. The company launched several other models like ES model in 1996, followed by Pep in 2003, Pep Plus in 2005, Teenz in 2007 and Streak in 2009.

Actress Anushka Sharma is the brand ambassador for Scooty scooters. Each of these models target girls/ women from specific age groups. Scooty Pep Plus targets teenage girls.

Auto sector and users appreciates TVS for taking huge risk by introducing women friendly scooters in India during 90s. Today, TVS controls 15 to 18 per cent of scooter sales in India. The scooter maker sold 189,875 units of Scooty scooters during 2014’s Q2 as per data released by Indian Automobile Manufacturers’ Society.
