The present generation Honda city is a remarkable subcompact car. Originally launched in 1981, the Honda city has come a long way till date. Launched in Malaysia and India in September 2008, this small car is also offered in some European nations. The three flavors of the latest Honda City are the S, V and the SV trims. The elements of the previous generation Honda City have been done away with, at least mostly. A radically new Honda City awaits approval in 2008 from the auto market. The hyped 1.4L i-VTEC engine helps the car deliver an impressive 100 PS. This and a host of other new additions make the car a must drive.

While the 1497 cc petrol engine is obviously very competent, the manual transmission has been worked upon, with optimized gear ratios. Now the car gets a new automatic transmission as well. With the enhanced engine mated to an improved manual transmission, the car races from 0 to 100 kmph in just 11.8 seconds. 6-speed i-SHIFT automated manual transmission is new in the present generation Honda City.

In terms of comfort and convenience features, the base trim comes with Remote Control Key with Immobilizer, Beige tone interior, and third rear brake indicator. The higher trim V adds some safety features like Dual airbag SRS, while the SV has tons of other features right from Switch steering to Map lighting and Mounted paddle shift, along with ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, BA. Seating is better this time, and the interior upholstery is good. The NVH system helps with sound quality in this comfortable sedan. Storage capacity has been increased for convenience.

The exterior though is radically different than the original Honda City and was criticized initially. However it has been accepted widely by people through the years. Compared to the classy and traditional original Honda City, the new City is more modern in design and has an “either-you-love-it-or-you-hate-it” appeal to it. The brand of Honda along with a host of promising features makes it an attractive buy.

The Honda City is powerful, comfortable and convenient than before. While there is always room for improvement, the car does not disappoint in any aspect.

I have been driving New Honda city for almost a month now and the car clocked 1800 km. The online fuel mileage per litre reflects around 16 to 16. km/ltr, however, manual verfication through top up fuel tank results fuel efficincy of around 14 km/l. I am not sure how correct the online reading of fuel efficiency. Would anyone like to share their experiance in this regard?

      Hi,
I am planning to buy S AT model. can you tell how much mileage you are getting in with AC on in city and highway…seems by now your ownership tenure is enough to clarify on this aspect.

      Thanks

Karan- Speed and extra permium petrol is nod good for the engine and it does not give extra mileage as claimed by the petrol companies. In a recent ruling the supreme court has asked clarification from the petroleum companies.

My suggestion is use plain petrol from a good pump. Unadulturated petrol is hard to find and does wonders for your car. So look around and find a honest pump.

Incase you are unable to find a good petrol pump, use high octane fuel.

In terms of technology .. do i need to say anything?? haan/? its d best iVtec..d one in CIVIC n ACCORD. my dad luvs it too….although i do d driving wen v all go but since this SuperRocket car steppd into ma family my dad strtd driving once again…lolz.. and yeah guyz,, this car is real fast. awesum pickup and superfine handling. u almost cannot feel as if u r driving at 140 -150 km/hr. and here comes the best…ABS wid EBD… nw u dnt feel the sudden jerk that u feel in odr cars wen u suddenly apply d brakes….try that thing ..or ask 4 d testdriv guy 2 show u how ABS works. no odr car is so refined is wt i feel. nd yes anodr thing. u evn get airbags in al d models.. so, u’re safe n sound all around ur journey…. d only thing is dat it’z a bit overpriced. but still dere r far more buyers dan 4 d odr cars. and yeah.. U ROCK –> HONDA people.. thnx 4 such a gr8 car
