2026 Harley Davidson Road Glide Review
Practice a powerful performance in shark-nose style with the all-new Road Glide. It combines the soul of the bike with the comfort, convenience, and confidence of a three-wheeler.
Aerodynamic Styling for Long-Haul Comfort
Remember the VR1000? It has been over two decades since Harley-Davidson had a factory road-racing effort. Thanks to Kyle Wyman’s performance in MotoAmerica’s 2021. The nap is now over. Taking inspiration from that event to create a new trim level called the ‘ST’ for the Road Glide, this bike is now heavily customized.
While ST stands for ‘Sport Touring,’ riders nowadays lean more toward the performance side of touring motorcycles. As a result, the ST now gets the high-output 117ci motor which was previously only available on comparatively expensive bikes.
For Long Drives With Yourself
Harley has historically classified the Glide as a “Grand American Tourer.” The 2026 H-D Road Glide features the liquid-cooled Milwaukee-Eight 117 ci V-Twin engine. It produces 105 horsepower at 4,600 rpm and 130 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm. And thanks to liquid-cooled cylinder heads, an enhanced intake and exhaust, the new motor delivers 6.6 per cent more torque and 12.9 per cent more horsepower than the Twin Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 powertrain in 2024 Grand American Touring models, with a claimed curb weight that has been reduced for sharper handling. Nothing feels quite like a V-Twin with that extra oomph.
Notably, the suspension on the Road Glide has been upgraded with taller preload-adjustable shocks. As a result, the Road Glide ST increases to 3.0 inches of travel compared to the 2.1 inches usually available in base bikes. Moreover, there is a noticeable increase in lean angle before the floor planks begin to scrape.
A Bike Made for the Long Ride
There is also an optional set of Screamin’ Eagle shocks if you are looking for more. They are 13 inches tall and offer the longest travel Harley has ever offered. And then they look pretty tricky, with remote reservoirs peeking out between the rear fender and the saddlebags.
Harley wants it to be the starting point for bikers who want to build a performance bagger. But then, more than differentiation is needed to justify the creation of a new model. So the H-D Road Glide also lets you have minor cosmetic tweaks, such as a shorter front fender, blacked-out drivetrain, shallower saddlebags, and passenger seat/peg delete. Nevertheless, it rides like the base Road Glide with a little more oomph and cornering clearance.
Where Riding Is Your Passion
Many Harley enthusiasts pushing this genre forward locally are jacking up bikes by three-plus inches for cornering clearance. They are also slapping on stereotypical sport bike components like Brembo master cylinders/callipers, Ohlins suspension, and 17-inch wheels for stickier rubber.
The Road Glide ST is available in Vivid Black and Gunship Grey models. And there is an optional Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements package, powered by a six-axis IMU, available at extra cost. It features cornering traction control, cornering ABS, drag torque slip control, linked brakes, hill hold, and tire pressure monitors.
Want More
The new lineup 2026 Harley-Davidson roster includes a refreshed Road Glide 3 trike performance cruiser model with the new Milwaukee-Eight VVT 117 engine and a redesigned de Dion-style rear suspension, alongside the Road Glide Limited which gets the VVT 117 motor producing 106 HP and 131 lb-ft of torque, plus a new Grand Tour-Pak with flush LED lighting and a 200-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system.
