The naked upright saddle position provides riders with a capable commuter and weekend touring motorcycle. 2026 Suzuki SV650 ABS Review

    What’s New for 2026?

The 2026 Suzuki SV650 ABS continues to offer a straightforward ride for commuters with a refreshed Pearl Vigor Blue / Metallic Matte Black No.2 colorway mounted to a visually stunning, blue trellis-style frame. It gently raises the torque curve from 3000 to 8000 rpm while you slide past the traffic on city roads. This motorcycle will put you just about anywhere. It will smoothly and predictably deliver power when required.

The SV650 is a great companion for real-world riding. And more so for the less-experienced riders. Its eager and culpable engine does not require any husbanding. It simply waits for your input. The Low RPM Assist feature helps alleviate stalling by increasing engine speed at low rpm. This additional feature is greedily appreciated and eventually benefits all types of riders. The 2026 model also continues to be equipped with Suzuki’s Easy Start System for one-button engine starting.

    Design and Appearance

The ergonomics on the SV650 are comfortingly accessible. The under 31-inch seat height gives you more leeway. And you can conveniently get your feet on the ground with the 30.5-inch inseam. All controls on the SV650 are within easy reach while the seating is adequately upright. The shape of the fuel tank on this bike is stout enough to give you an excellent grip on your legs. And riders never feel cramped as there is plenty of room to move in the saddle.

The full LCD instrumentation on the SV650 ABS is simple and effective with adjustable backlight brightness. And it delightfully includes most prerequisite information on machine vitals — tachometer, speedometer, odometer, dual trip meter, clock, coolant temperature, ABS alert, gear position, plus fuel consumption and driving range data. However, aside from the LED taillights in terms of lighting, the SV650 still employs an old-school halogen bulb setup (12V 60/55W H4) for the headlight. Nevertheless, the heads are bright enough.

    Technology and Features

This 90-degree twin configuration of the robust SV650 engine offers you a pleasing bottom-end power. The exhaust note here is hard to imitate. While the engine’s vibrations through the controls are muted, there is just enough for other commuters to know you are riding a sporty V-twin.

Another remarkable aspect of the SV650 engine is that it makes most of its torque from as low as 3,000 revs. Real-world fuel mileage typically measures around 55-60 mpg. This nets a comfortable range based on the 3.8-gallon fuel tank’s capacity. It is also worth noting that the engine runs on traditional unleaded gasoline. The motorbike weighs 437 pounds with a full tank of gas. This is moderate, considering the engine displacement. But it feels lighter when the bike is in motion.

    Performance and Handling

The 41mm conventional front fork on the SV650 ABS is non-adjustable but offers a generous 4.9 inches (125 mm) of wheel travel. The rear shock is preload adjustable for shock spring preload to accommodate cargo or for riding two-up, with a 63mm (2.48-inch) stroke. The SV650 strikes a balance for various types of roles. So that the ride will not be plush or aggressively taut but is comfortably safe and secure. The conventional fork’s travel serves well. It soaks up the usual bumps, ripples, and pavement abuses commonly found on urban and suburban roadways.

The SV650 on freeways is equally dependable. This is, in fact, one of the biggest strengths of this motorbike. With a moderate weight and balanced wheelbase, it plants its feel on the road wonderfully. And the established ride on this bike is seamlessly supportive. Front braking comes via dual 290mm fully floating discs with four-piston Tokico calipers, with ABS standard.

    Riding Experience

The latest Suzuki SV650 ABS remains a treasured choice for all types of riders. It is a good bet for most folks to touch the asphalt when seated at the controls. This little SV is still a hoot to ride.

I love my 2008 sv650N , it looks better than the new tube frame style and you can’t fit a center stand. Suzuki have gone backwards in my opinion.
