    2023 Honda CRF150R Review

Despite being down on power, the Honda CRF150R is a solid bike. It is built for racing in the 85cc/Supermini class for kids aged between 12 to 16 years. The standard model is for 12/13 years old, and the expert model is for 14-16-year-old kids. However, age is only one of the factors under consideration.

    Riding Through Dirt

A growing number of adults also feel comfortable and love to ride the Honda CRF150R. This high-performance, lightweight, and loud dirt bike has a liquid-cooled 150cc 4-stroke engine and a very light flywheel initially built for jumping and racing.

Eventually, the engine for this bike revs up very quickly. It will accelerate abruptly and is excellent for racing to experienced riders looking forward to navigating aggressive power curves.

The problem with fast-revving engines is that they also decelerate quickly as there is less inertia to counter. Subsequently, they are more prone to stalling, especially before you have learned how to use the clutch or like riding at low RPM.

    Hop On The Ride

Tuning the jet will help alongside adding the weight of a flywheel. All done, the CRF150R will still not feel like a torque trail bike. Just add a Rekluse auto clutch if you want to prevent stalling.

The top speed of CRF150R is about 60 mph. Moreover, you can easily change the acceleration and top speed by going for a different-sized sprocket on the front or rear.

    The Biker Knows Best

With 23.5 horsepower at the crank, the CRF150R gives you about 21 horsepower at the rear wheel. This peak power matters only when you are constantly riding at that RPM. However, do not overlook the torque curve if you are racing. The low-end torque should be something you should be reassured about.

But then having good and smooth torque down low is very important if you are riding for fun. The engine can lug and accelerate from a low RPM if you do not have to slip the clutch in fear of stalling. Unfortunately, this makes the CRF 150R harder to ride for beginners.

Come On – Be A Sport

The Honda CRF150R has a ridiculously loud straight-through pipe and muffler, thanks to the stock exhaust setup. This may be fine if you are racing motocross on a public track. Otherwise, be prepared to hear the neighbors complain. Or installing an aftermarket slip-on exhaust to quiet down the sound.

    The Best Rides Are Off-Road

The Honda 150R has high-tech suspensions that are fully adjustable. So soak up the big jumps, whoops, and other obstacles in a motocross competition.

But then, the forks and shocks are set up for a 70 – 120 lb. This is going to be harsh if you are just a casual rider. The springs may be soft enough, but the internal valving will slow the compression and rebound. Consequently, you may feel stiff when riding slowly or hitting small, sharp bumps along a trail.

The CRF150R is a good dirt bike when you are not mixing gas. It is lightweight for a 4-stroke and has more torque than an 85cc 2-stroke. This can be a fun trail bike for adults riding with some modifications.
